Large elegant thrown bowl thrown in 2 sections, turned, joined and turned to the final form. A thin black decorative slip has been applied to the outer surface providing a striking silhouette in profile. The terraced double internal bowl features a Kuan crackle glaze in the lower volume, complimented by a heavy crawling glaze on the upper surface. The rim is hand eroded to reveal the underlying off-white stoneware clay. The piece is signed and dated on the base.
